A Word From Our President
Dear Panhellenic Community and Potential New Members,
Hi! My name is Ava Dzan, and I am honored to serve as Chapter President of Alpha Delta Pi, Beta Psi Chapter, here at the University of Kentucky. At ADPi, we believe our sorority is more than an organization; it is a way of life. Founded in 1851 as the first sorority, Alpha Delta Pi is rooted in the values of Sisterhood, Knowledge, Character, and Service, which continue to guide everything we do.
When I went through recruitment just two years ago, I was unsure of what to expect. I was nervous, reserved, and questioning whether I would find a place where I truly belonged. Today, I stand having served in multiple leadership roles, now as Chapter President, and I can confidently say that joining ADPi was one of the most transformative decisions of my life.
Before college, I didn’t fully realize what I was capable of. Alpha Delta Pi has challenged me to grow into a more confident, empowered woman and has opened doors I never imagined possible. The friendships I have built, the leadership skills I have developed, and the values I carry with me daily are all rooted in this sisterhood.
Our chapter is made up of intentional, driven, and compassionate women who continuously inspire me. I am surrounded by individuals who lead organizations across campus, pursue meaningful internships, contribute to impactful research, and serve their communities in extraordinary ways. Being part of a group so dedicated to personal growth and service has motivated me to strive for excellence in all I do and has changed the trajectory of my collegiate experience.
What makes ADPi truly special is the unwavering support within our sisterhood. These women celebrate your highest highs as your biggest cheerleaders, but more importantly, they walk beside you through life’s challenges. I have always known that I can turn to any of my sisters during a tough week and be met with unconditional support, no matter what I’m facing. That support has carried me through the past three years, balancing college, ROTC, nursing school, and all of the challenges college can bring. Having a community that truly sees you, understands you, and stands by you without hesitation is incredibly rare, and something I will never take for granted.
It is the greatest honor to lead a chapter filled with women who inspire me each and every day. As President, I am committed to upholding our values and ensuring every member has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and thrive, both within our chapter and beyond.
To anyone going through recruitment, trust the process and be unapologetically yourself. You never know where you may find your home or how much you will grow along the way. While walking into each house may feel intimidating, know that you are surrounded by women who are rooting for you and want nothing but the best for you. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is to think about who you want to be when you walk across the stage in four years, and to surround yourself with the people who will help you become that person.
I am endlessly grateful for Alpha Delta Pi, and I cannot wait to share just how special this sisterhood truly is.
Pi Love & all of Mine,
Ava Dzan
